Welcome back to ALSA UUM Legax Time Season III: Exploring Malaysia’s Legal Landscape! For the First Episode, we will delve into the topic of Legal Lens on Deepfake: Defending Reality in the Digital Age.
In recent years, the rise of deepfake technology has sparked both fascination and concern. Deepfake, which are used for computer-generated videos and audio that appear remarkably real, have the potential to deceive, manipulate, and even defame individuals. From issues of consent and privacy to the threat they pose to public trust and security, the impact of deepfake extends across various domains. As these technologies become more accessible and sophisticated, questions arise about their legal implications.
Introducing our esteemed speakers, Professor Ir. Dr. Chan Chee Seng, a renowned full professor at Department of Artificial Intelligence, University of Malaya and Yee Yong Xuan, a legal professional specialising in Intellectual Property law, trademark prosecution and advisory services in technology, media, and telecommunications at Shearn Delamore & Co.

Greetings from ALSA UUM!
Are you ready for an engaging discussion full of insights with two rising stars in the legal profession, Ms. Elaine Peng and Ms. Siti Nazihah Tan?
Ms. Elaine Peng, a distinguished legal associate at Messrs. Azim, Tunku Farik & Wong, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. With an impressive educational background, including a Degree in Bachelor of Law with Honours from the University of Hull and Brickfields Asia College together with a Certificate in Legal Practice, Ms. Elaine has honed her skills in civil litigation, insurance disputes, corporate, and commercial litigation.
Ms. Siti Nazihah Tan, holding a Degree in Bachelor of Law with Honours from Northern University of Malaysia (UUM). Ms. Nazihah brings a diverse skill set and a passion for General Litigation, including Civil and Criminal law. Her practical experience, gained during her tenure as a Pupil in Chambers at Messrs. Othman Hashim & Co., has equipped her with the knowledge to navigate fraud claims, professional negligence, and insurance litigation.
